EarthCARE (the Earth Cloud, Aerosol and Radiation Explorer) is a joint ESA – JAXA satellite launched in May 2024 to uncover the secrets of clouds and aerosols and their role in the climate system. This site promotes and supports the scientific exploitation of EarthCARE, and is maintained by the ESA-funded EarthCARE science team.
How will we use EarthCARE's four instruments to learn about clouds, aerosols and radiation in the climate system?
EarthCARE was conceived at the end of the last millenium and is the result of a huge amount of work by many people.
Meet the scientists and engineers who are responsible for the mission and who developed the algorithms.
EarthCARE is being used to tackle multiple scientific challenges. As this work develops, additional information will be provided here.
You can visit ESA's EarthCARE pages and JAXA's EarthCARE pages or get the data from the ESA data portal or the JAXA data portal.
